Major League Hunts offers guided snow goose hunting during both Colorado’s regular waterfowl season and the spring Light Goose Conservation Order.
During the regular season, snow geese and Ross’s geese can sometimes be hunted along with Canada geese when the birds are using the same areas. After the regular goose season ends, we shift to dedicated spring conservation hunts as light geese migrate north across Colorado’s Eastern Plains.
These are two different ways to hunt snow geese, and each offers a different experience in the field.

Optional Full-Day Conservation Hunts
Spring snow geese can move throughout the day as weather, wind and migration conditions change.
For hunters who want to maximize their time in the field, we offer optional full-day conservation hunts for an additional cost. Colorado’s conservation-order hunting hours extend to one-half hour after sunset, giving hunters the opportunity to stay with bird movements beyond a traditional morning hunt.
Full-day hunts can be especially worthwhile during afternoon weather changes or as geese return to feeding areas later in the day.

How We Hunt
Snow goose hunting requires mobility, scouting, and large decoy spreads.
Our guides monitor current bird activity and choose fields based on where geese are feeding and how they are moving through the area.
Depending on conditions, spreads may include 1,000 or more decoys, along with electronic callers and concealed field setups during the Conservation Order.
We stay informed. We secure the access. We build the plan. Then we work together to make the hunt happen.
What to Expect
Major League Hunts handles the scouting, private-property access, hunt planning, blinds, decoys, electronic callers when permitted, and other equipment needed for the setup.
Because snow goose hunting often requires very large spreads, hunters should expect to help set and pick up decoys before and after the hunt. With spreads that can exceed 1,000 decoys, these hunts are a team effort.
Guided snow goose regular season hunts begin at first light and end at noon, unless otherwise noted. Conservation Order hunts have the option of all-day hunts.
Before arriving, hunters should also be prepared with their personal hunting equipment, appropriate clothing, ammunition, and all required Colorado and federal licenses and stamps.
Since snow goose migration can change rapidly, the exact field, setup, and hunt conditions may vary from one day to the next. However, our goal remains the same: put you in a quality hunting situation and provide an enjoyable day in the field.
Colorado Snow Goose Conservation Hunts
After Colorado’s regular goose season closes, the Light Goose Conservation Order provides another opportunity to hunt snow geese and Ross’s geese during their northbound spring migration.
Our conservation hunts take place on private agricultural fields across Colorado’s Eastern Plains. Because spring snow geese can cover a lot of ground quickly, our guides track current bird concentrations and move to where the best opportunities are.
These hunts are very different from our regular Canada goose hunts. Large snow goose spreads, electronic callers, and temporary blind setups are used to work flocks of migrating light geese. Snow geese are notoriously wary, especially after being hunted throughout much of their migration, so success depends on good concealment, realistic spreads, calling, weather, and being where the birds want to be.
The Conservation Order also allows additional hunting methods intended to increase harvest pressure on abundant light-goose populations. During Colorado’s Light Goose Conservation Order:
- Daily bag limit is unlimited
- Possession limit is unlimited
- Electronic and recorded calls may be used
- Shotguns may hold more than three shells
- Hunting hours extend from one-half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset
- A Federal Duck Stamp is not required
A Colorado waterfowl stamp and other applicable Colorado licensing and HIP requirements still apply.
