Waterfowl Hunting Safety Guidelines
Safety is paramount in waterfowl hunting. Major League Hunts follows strict safety protocols to protect hunters, guides, and dogs in the field.
No Drugs or Alcohol
- Absolutely no drugs (including marijuana) or alcohol is permitted in the field.
- No exceptions!
Firearm Handling
- Firearms remain on safe until the guide calls the shot.
- After each volley, firearms must be returned immediately to safe.
- Do not reload until everyone is safely back in the pit or blind.
- Always maintain proper muzzle control and situational awareness.
Shot Discipline
- Do not shoot before the guide calls the shot on decoying birds.
- Maintain a “10 & 2” shooting lane and never shoot over other hunters.
Legal Requirements for Colorado Waterfowl Hunting
All hunters must meet Colorado and Federal legal requirements before entering the field.
Licenses & Stamps Needed
Every hunter must have:
- A valid Colorado small game license;
- Federal migratory bird hunting and conservation stamp;
- Colorado state waterfowl stamp; and
- HIP registration.
Ammunition Requirements
Only approved non-toxic shot—such as steel, bismuth, or tungsten—is permitted for waterfowl.
Hunters are individually responsible for meeting all legal requirements. Major League Hunts is not liable for licensing or compliance.
Hunt Expectations & Commitment
At Major League Hunts, we work hard to provide every group with a quality waterfowl hunting experience. Our guides put in the time and effort to scout birds, prepare hunting locations, and position your group for the best possible shooting opportunities.
However, waterfowl hunting is inherently unpredictable, and bird movement, weather, and other factors beyond our control can influence the outcome of any hunt. While we cannot guarantee shooting opportunities or harvest numbers, we are committed to giving every group the best opportunity for a successful and enjoyable hunt.

- Hunts are non-refundable within 72 hours of the scheduled hunt time.
- No-shows or last-minute cancellations are not eligible for refunds.
